AUTHOR'S NOTES: This was written for the loveyoulikesin challenge. Thank youuu lightthesparks for putting on this whole thing and arting so beautifully. We met during SDMB and I now consider you one of my partners in crime. I began writing this around 7x03, just after Amy Pond. It was inspired by A) the SPN writers giving us "handholding: this is real," and, B) how much I love Lucifer. Declaring this loudly in public is always amusing. I'm very excited to have finished this because I haven't let myself read any s7 fic that has a lot of hallucinations because I wanted to write this without biting anyone else's style, or whatever, so now that I'm done, I will go indulge in all the fic! Thanks also to oddishly and lavishsqualor, who were there when I was in a despair over ever finishing. Writing buddies! Then, zempasuchil and twoskeletons lent me their idea of Sam kind of grounding Dean right back with hand squashing. And finally, thanks go to riyku, who is such a thorough, excellent beta. So much fun working with you! All remaining mistakes are, of course, my own. Here's a pic of Sam and Lucifer for your enjoyment.

I can't wait to read this fic! Just one look at the summary and I'm already hooked, and the banner is ten kinds of awesome too! Besides, I've read some of your other stories and loved them, and season 7 is my favorite one so far. *bounces* Above, you said you kept away from other S07 fic so as not to be influenced. If you want, I could send you a pretty huge list of S07 h-c fic revolving around Sam's post-Hell issues. I've kinda collected them and I have a seven pages long list, with short summaries for each. SO having read your fic I see how it went and YES OK FOR SURE. (Hilariously though, a few days before you posted this fic it randomly occurred to me that Lucifer should totally try to convince Sam that Dean wants him and then Sam makes a move and then EVERYTHING IS RUINED FOREVER except probably not because they loooove each other. SO so of course when you posted this I saw the summary and went OMG EXACTLY WHAT I NEED)

This is probably the best Supernatural fic I have read so far - and it's saying something given the high number of them in my repertorie of readings-.
You've got all well balanced, the back story, the conection with the series, the cannon secondary characters, the relationship... AND you've got the character's voices incredibly right. You Sam is soooo Sam, all brainy and with his inner voice so high; your Dean is as protector as ever and is highly believable they were conscious of thier feelings since years ago -more conscious Sam, more in denial Dean- and that only Sam ever thought of acting on it. In one word: believable. All of it.
I'm about to check right now is you've more more jewels of fics on your journal, and keep on commenting.
Really, congrats. AND thank you very much for sharing this with me, with all of us.

P.S.: Oh, by the way. In my humble opinion and, because all things might be impoved with a bit of really good sex, I had in my mind to pick your pride telling you that I think this fic would be even better if you haddn't shied away from extending the sex scene at the end. It was going so smooth and romantic and hot! I felt somewhat cheated by the cut of the scene, like iI was watching somoe PG movie at TV or something.
But it really was classy. So maybe it's just that ?m so gready of our boys sexin' up that it mess with my brain and my critic eye. So, I'm only saying that -for ME- it would have been some improvement. Yeah!

I'm so glad that you enjoyed this, and that the characterization was believable! Writing character voices is super hard for me, so that's very reassuring to hear. You know, I'm not too interested in writing anything scandalous, it's not something I find engaging to write, but I'm sure you can find similar stories all over the place that are more NC-17!
